Description

Breathtaking in 3 carats of mixed gemstones, these spectacular earrings showcase blue topazes and sapphires in elegant prong-set marquise and round cuts. Creamy, plump cultured freshwater pearls add classic glamour to the bright gemstone earrings set in sterling silver with French clip closures.

What do I need to know about blue topaz?

New to the market as of last century, blue topaz is now a common color choice for one of the world’s most popular gemstones. Available in a variety of hues and seen here exclusively in different shades of blue, including an icy blue called Swiss Blue and a teal-leaning tone called London Blue, the gem is impressively durable, hard and richly colored making it an eye-catching addition to these earrings.

What makes blue sapphire special?

Sapphire is the most revered among the blue jewel group. The stone has a vibrant, color-saturated glow and is also durable and considerably hard, second only to a diamond. Traditionally blue in color, as seen in this piece, the stone is also used yet less commonly recognized in other shades. Although always full of sparkle, the tone of a sapphire may mysteriously vary based on the angle it’s viewed from. It may appear purple from one side and deep blue from another—part of its charm.

What do I need to know about cultured, freshwater pearls?

Often replicated as glass, a true pearl holds its value—and impeccable luster. Cultured freshwater pearls are commonly the most classic, creamy-white and spherical version of the gemstone. They are naturally occurring from live mussels.  Smooth, not faceted, freshwater pearls add a varied textured, color and polish to these silver-set earrings dazzling with vivid blue topaz and sapphire.

What inspired this design?

With a curved-tail metal stem shaped like a J inset with three petite gems, the silver sliver is punctuated with a round jewel at top surrounded by four marquise-cut jewels that resemble petals. Filling out the curve of the stem on the other side are two pretty pearls. Bold and glamorous, these stud earrings are proof you don’t need dramatic drops to make an impression.
